WOMEN'S ARTISTIC GYMNASTICS - AUSTRALIAN NATIONALS 2012
Our Women’s artistic team consisted of one North Harbour Gymnastics Junior International, Brittany Robertson and two Christchurch school of Gymnastics IDP girls, Charleis Kingston-White and Natasha Boon.
Brittany did well and was trying out a lot of new skills. Her first day competing she was sitting at third all around, later dropping to fifth in the overall final. Day three of competing she stuck all her routines beautifully and just missed out on medalling on the uneven bars.
Charleis Kingston-White overcame first day nerves to do a good beam routine on day 2 and received a third best score of 14.35. Both days her vaults were dynamic scoring 15.050 and 15.125 and taking the bronze medal.
Natasha Boon pleased the crowd with her floor coming in third on both days. Day 2 saw her do a beautiful layout Yurchenko for the first time and a personal best of 13.00. Natasha performed a beautiful beam routine and placed third on day 2.
MEN'S ARTISTIC GYMNASTICS - AUSTRALIAN NATIONALS 2012
Our Men’s artistic team did us proud with Michael Summers taking home a Gold medal on the Floor and Bronze on Vault .
Michael has used this competition to gauge his level of competitiveness for the Australian Youth Olympics 2013, as he looks to step up to the under 18 grade.
Frikkie Delport did very well considering he was unable to complete all around due to a recent ankle injury. He concentrated on his specialty of rings which he clearly dominated and took out the gold.
Level 7 boys Ashley Croudis-Bonniface, Sean Philpott and William Fraser stood out, with Ashley first on Vault, William second on parallel bars and third on Floor. Sean also third on Floor.
Big congratulations to Level 8 Jordan O’Connell-Inns who finished up day one and day two in first place leading to first in all around. His score 151.063.
Our Level 6 Under 12 and Level 8 teams won the Trans-Tasman challenge.
