The Incentive Awards are a series of gymnastics sequences graduated into 7 levels from Grade One to Elite. These can be used to check the progress made by students in a general gymnastics programme.

The activities have been selected to encourage boys and girls to become more proficent in general gymnastics skills, in the hope that they will continue to participate in GymSport activities through adulthood. 

The Incentive Awards are based on the following philosophy approach:

FUN through challenge, success and continuous activity.
FITNESS by using physically demanding activity to condition the body ans establish sound movement patterns.
FUNDAMENTALS are the movement patterns unique to gymnastics called DOMINANT MOVEMENT PATTERNS or D.M.P's. (Landing, Rotation, Statics, Swing, Locomotion and Spring)
FRIENDSHIP by co-operating and mixing with ones peers and other age groups.

INCENTIVE AWARD RESOURCES

The complete manual for the General Gymnastics Incentive Award scheme includes a teaching section to enable users to incorporate the scheme into Introductory Gymnastic programmes. The emphasis on the Dominant Movement Pattern approach assists coaches of any experience level.

Students progress through the Awards after assessment by a qualified examiner. At each level they can purchase a cloth badge for their clothing or a metal pin badge.
